Foreign investors net sold 443 billion VND (~17.72 million USD) across all three exchanges on July 23, with banking stocks MBB, TCB, VCB, VPB, and TPB being the most sold. The VN-Index still rose nearly 31 points to near 1,700 points.

Proprietary trading desks at securities companies net bought 460 billion VND on HOSE on July 22, when VN-Index fell 62 points. Techcombank (TCB) was the most bought stock at 235 billion VND, while foreign investors net sold 1,921 billion VND across the market.

Foreign investors net sold nearly VND 1,921 billion (USD 76.8 million) on July 22, contributing to a 62-point drop in the VN-Index below 1,700. SSI, VIC, and VCB were the most sold, while VNM, HPG, and GEE were net bought.

VN-Index fell below 1700 points in morning trading, dropping 37.66 points to 1692.9, with foreign investors net selling 994.3 billion VND (~39.8 million USD) on HoSE, a 98% increase from the previous morning. Major blue-chips like VIC, VHM, VCB, BID, CTG, and VPB led the decline, while VNM and FPT bucked the trend.

Investor cash deposits at securities companies fell 25.9% QoQ to VND 86.6 trillion in Q2 2026, the lowest in four quarters, as high deposit rates (up 254 bps for Tier-1 banks) reduced cash available for stock buying. Margin debt rose 8.1% QoQ to over VND 446 trillion, indicating high leverage.

Nearly 70 state-owned enterprises, including major tickers like BID, VCB, GAS, ACV, and BSR, face delisting by January 1, 2027 if they fail to meet shareholder structure requirements. The State Securities Commission views this as a necessary screening process to support Vietnam's market upgrade to emerging market status, which could attract significant foreign capital.
